Privacy Policy
Nina is an AI-powered interpreter and translation app. This policy explains what information the app processes, why, and the choices you have. By using Nina you agree to the practices described here.
Information we process
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive a user identifier and, depending on the provider and your choices, your name and email address. You may also use the app anonymously.
- Voice recordings. When you speak into the app, the audio is sent to our server and to our AI providers to be transcribed and translated. It is processed to produce the translation and is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
- Text and documents. Text you enter and documents you upload for translation are sent to our AI providers to generate the translated result.
- Purchases. If you buy a subscription, Apple processes the payment. We receive a purchase receipt/transaction identifier that we verify with Apple to unlock features. We never receive your full payment card details.
- Group sessions. If you join a shared QR session, the messages you send are relayed to other participants in that session.
How we use it
- To transcribe, translate, and read aloud the content you provide.
- To authenticate you and sync your subscription entitlement.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your recordings, text, or documents to serve you advertising.
Service providers
We share content only as needed with the processors that power the app:
- Google — Gemini (translation/transcription), Cloud Text-to-Speech, and Firebase (authentication, database, hosting).
- ElevenLabs — speech-to-text and text-to-speech.
- Apple — sign-in and in-app purchase processing.
These providers process the data on our behalf under their own terms and security practices, and may operate on servers outside your country.
Retention
Voice audio, text, and documents are processed transiently to produce your result and are not retained as a long-term profile. Account and subscription records are kept for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.
Your choices & rights
- You can use the app anonymously without providing name or email.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data — including full account deletion — as described on our Privacy Choices page.
- You control microphone access through your device's system settings.
Children
Nina is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
